SUMMARY:The Heart of Okauchee: A Fundraising Gala for the Oconomowoc Area Historical Society
DESCRIPTION:**Registration for this event is now closed. \nJoin us for our annual fundraising gala! As both our largest fundraiser of the year and our most significant community outreach event\, the gala plays a vital role in supporting the museum’s daily operations and continued growth. This year’s event\, hosted at Weissgerber’s Golden Mast Inn\, will explore the rich history of Okauchee through a special presentation by longtime volunteers and local historians Barb Elwood-Goetsch and Jolayne Lindberg. All of this will take place against the backdrop of the museum’s centennial year\, as we continue celebrating 100 years of preserving and sharing the stories of the Oconomowoc area. A special selection of artifacts will be on display during the evening\, showcasing our century of collecting as well as the history of Okauchee. \n\n\nThis event is brought to you in part by our Major Sponsor\, Bank Five Nine. Further support is provided by our Speaker Sponsor\, Ed Jones Post 91 American Legion and Auction Sponsor\, Nicholas and Associates. \n\n\nTickets are $125 per person for members and $150 per person for non-members. Ticket sales close September 17. \n\n\nTimeline for the evening:Cocktails: 5:00 (cash bar)Dinner: 6:30Presentation followed by a live auction: 7:15 \nDinner: Each attendee will be served the Gourmet Combination which includes chicken breast and sliced tenderloin with fresh bakery basket\, house garden salad\, vegetable and starch\, beverage (coffee-tea-milk)\, and chef’s house dessert. SUMMARY:History as Art
DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with Oconomowoc High School\, we are proud to present the fourth edition of “History as Art.” By combining the artistic talents of Oconomowoc High School students with the rich historical resources of our museum\, this project will blend history and artistic interpretation into compelling works of art. \n\nCreations will be displayed in the museum next to their object(s) of inspiration beginning Tuesday\, November 17. Each piece will include a brief statement explaining its inspiration and what it means to the artist. \n\nMuseum visitors will be encouraged to vote for what they like best in various categories during our regular open hours. An awards reception will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday\, December 17. This reception is free and open to the public.
